Nemo 2 Chain Oiler kit

The Cobrra NEMO 2 motorcycle chain oiler is a manually-operated oiler: one ¼ turn of the tank cap provides enough oil for over 300km of riding.

Why use a Chain Oiler?

A dirty chain or a chain with sticky, dirty chain lube will wear out prematurely, due to the dirt and grease forming a grinding paste and damaging the surface of the chain, the chainwheel and the pinion.

Any lubrication in general will provide isolation between the contact surfaces and protect the o-rings of the chain, ensuring the factory grease stays inside the chain.
But using a light oil that is continually replaced, helps cleans the chain by removing the road dirt thus greatly extending the life of the entire chainset.

A chain oiler will also greatly reduce the time spent on regular chain maintenance: cleaning and greasing.

Benefits of the NEMO 2

• Simple to use.
• Easy installation/completely independent of the vehicle: no connection to the engine, no connection to the battery.
• Rider-controlled/"Handraulic" operation. The rider can apply oil more often on demand for use in rainy, dusty or off-road-conditions to keep the chain clean.
• Uses 80W/90 gear oil, commonly available in any fuel station.
• Pressure-driven, not gravity-fed, so changes in ambient temperature/oil viscosity do not affect the flow-rate.
• Installation on the handlebar: ideal for modern sportsbikes with no space to install a tank on the chassis or under the seat.
• No moving parts so extremely reliable and long-lasting.
• Lubrication may be paused at any time by turning the cap anticlockwise.

How does the NEMO 2 work?

Once the tank has been filled, turning the lid a ¼ turn will pressurise the tank and slowly force the oil down to the chain. The oil will drip for approximately 3 minutes and will provide lubrication for about 300km in dry conditions.

Oil will be delivered oil for approximately 3 minutes, and in dry conditions the oil should last on the chain over 300km…but this is reduced greatly in the rain, and so more oil should be used in wet conditions for lubrication and in dusty and off-road/muddy conditions for cleaning.

The rider must check the condition of the chain and that it is lubricated adequately. If insufficient oil is used, the wear of the chain increases very rapidly: better to oil too much rather than not enough. An excess of oil may result in some staining of the rear wheel, but the thin oll presents no danger of the tyre slipping.

• High-quality, machined aluminium construction.
• Visual indication of the tank oil level.
• Visual Alert when the oil level is low…but still has a reserve for 500km.
• Easy filling of the tank since it is accessible on the handlebar.
• Oil delivery is via a thin, easily-hidden black tube to the chain-wheel.

NEMO 2 Installation

1. The tank may be installed onto any existing bolt on the handlebar or chassis. An optional 22mm diameter support is also available.
2. The oil delivery tubing is routed to the chainwheel or pinion.
3. The injector should touch the chainwheel/pinion to deliver the oil onto a surface. It must not be installed to drip onto the chain via an air-gap or oil will be lost and splashed onto other surfaces.
