Why remove the Secondary Throttle Valve?
The secondary throttle valve actuator/servomotor (STVA) often fails and is usually not available as a spare part but only together with the complete (very expensive) throttle body! Hence it is common to remove the secondary throttle valves to avoid this unecessary cost.
On some bikes removing the secondary butterflies may also increase performance.
The removal of the butterfly valve and servomotor will cause two faults to be detected by the ECU:
- the missing actuator/servomotor STVA
- the incorrect signal from the throttle position sensor STPS.
The STVE emulator simply plugs into the original STVA and STPS connectors to provide the correct signals to the ECU and so prevent the fault detection.
