The Scottoiler vSystem supplies a small but continuous flow of oil to the chain, cleaning and lubricating constantly.

The vSystem works as a siphon. It is automatic, using a connection to the engine vacuum to allow the oil to flow only when the engine is running.

The system lubricates automatically using a light oil that both cleans and lubricates at the same time. You can easily adjust the flow rate to the conditions, maintaining the transmission and the bike free of old, dirty grease, thereby increasing the life up the chain by up to 7 times.

More than 35 years on the market, the Scottoiler is recognised as one of the very few accessories that will add resale value to a bike and probably the only one that will pay for itself and save you money and time.

Look for an installation example in the Scottoiler Support Centre.

  • increases the chain life by up to 7 times
  • keeps the wheel and the bike easily cleaned - no more sticky grease
  • save time and money by NOT cleaning, adjusting or changing the transmission
  • very efficient: one drop per minute is enough to protect the chain
  • travel more than 12,000km without refills (when using an additional tank: HCR Magnum, Traveller).
  • easy installation
  • for all types of bikes including fuel injection and two strokes
  • more than 35 years of experience and development

Comes with the standard injector that deposits oil to one side of the chain. For road bikes we recommend the Scorpion Dual Injector accessory.

Kit Contents:

  1. RMV tank/regulator 50ml.
  2. All tubes and connections necessary to install in most bikes.

Bike-Specific Installation Guides are available in the Scottoiler Support Centre.

  3. A 250ml bottle of Scottoil Biodegradable all-climate oil (enough for at least 10,000 km)

Scottoiler Oil Types

Scottoiler systems are precision devices, designed to consistently deliver very small quantities of oil continuously. To ensure the systems function as designed, we recommend you use only one of the Scottoiler oils as they do not contain any additives that may harm the chain O-rings and no "tack" additives that will stick road dirt to the chain.

There are three types of Scottoiler oils available.

Scottoiler Biodegradable Oil - Verde

This oil was introduced in 2022 and has a constant viscosity 0-40°.

Scottoiler Standard Oil - Blue

The Standard oil is the original oil supplied with Scottoiler kits and is appropriate for northern european climates(0-20°C).
It can be used all year round but during the higher summer temperatures the flow rate may have to be reduced due to the reduced viscosity of the oil.

Scottoiler High Temperature Oil - Red

The High Temperature oil has a higher viscosity for use in warmer climates (20°-40°).
It can be used all year round but in the lower winter temperatures the flow rate may have to be increased to compensate for the increased viscosity.

The High Temperature oil was introduced when Scottoilers were first being exported to warmer climates and were delivering too much oil on the minimum setting. The current systems are now much improved and the flow rate can be precisely controlled, rendering the choice of blue/red oil far less important.

In northern Spain and Galicia we recommend the blue oil, for southern Spain/Canary Islands the red oil is more suitable all year round.

Due to the extremes of temperature that many parts of Spain experience during the year, many people opt to change the oil during the year when appropriate. The types can be mixed but may separate due to the different viscosities so its better to change oils when the tank is nearly empty.

Scottoiler Systems - Distance Between Refills

The following table shows the range that each system offers. The distance is calculated assuming one drop of oil per minute and an average speed of 40km/h. These are conservative estimates, in real use the distance between refills is further than that indicated in the table.

System Capacity Range
vSystem Micro 35ml 1,600 km
vSystem 50ml 2,300 km
xSystem 60ml 2,800km
eSystem 60ml 2,800km
Traveller add-on tank 200ml +9,400km
vSystem Micro + Traveller 235ml 11,000km
vSystem + Traveller 250ml 11,800km
xSystem + Traveller 260ml 12,300km
eSystem + Traveller 260ml 12,300km
HCR Magnum add-on-tank 350ml +16,500km
vSystem + HCR Magnum 400ml 18,900km
eSystem + HCR Magnum 410ml 19,400km
