This emulator kit is used to replace the stock oxygen/lambda sensor in the exhaust manifold, correct the air/fuel mixture and prevent an “FI” error on the dashboard.
This kit is intended for use only in competition or on closed roads.
Today's engines are designed to comply with strict emissions controls by reducing the stoichiometric mixture (AFR) in a specific range of RPM, causing the engine to run lean. Consequently, this may lead to reduced performance, rough/jerky running and overheating.
Common Benefits of 0xygen Sensor replacement
- Elimination of rough running at low RPM
- Improves engine response at low and medium RPM
- Reduction of engine/exhaust temperature
Additional information
- Does not increase fuel consumption
- Does not cause an "FI" error.
- Compatible with exhausts with or without a catalytic converter
- Mandatory when removing catalytic converter
- Sealed OEM connectors
Technical Description
The ECU is set to deliver a lean AFR (Air Fuel Ratio), exactly 14.7 at <5000 RPM and 20% throttle.
Once the engine has reached its operating temperature, the O2 sensors supply information to the engine unit to keep the mixture at 14.7. This causes an increase in the temperature of the engine, the exhaust system and may cause rough running.
By using an emulator, a constant signal is sent to the control unit which effectively lowers the mixture by one point and sets the AFR to 13.8. All this translates into better performance of the motorcycle.
Installation
- Installation is simple, just follow the cables of the O2 sensor from the exhaust manifold until you find the connector.
- Unplug the sensor.
- Plug in the emulator.
- Optionally you you may remove the sensor completely from the exhaust and seal the fitting hole with the blanking plug from the kit
What is an Oxygen/Lambda Sensor?
The oxygen sensor is located in the exhaust system before the catalytic converter to measure the amount of remaining oxygen in the exhaust gas. Some vehicles may have a second sensor after the catalytic convert for more precise measurements.
Excess oxygen indicates an inefficient combustion and so the fuel management system uses the data from the sensor to adjust the fuel mixture for better efficiency and reduce emissions.
