What is a "SpeedoHealer"?

A SpeedoHealer allows you to calibrate the speedometer and correct both the inherent factory error and the errors caused by changing the sizes of the pinion, chainwheel and wheels.

It is the most reliable and flexible speedometer calibrator available, compatible with any bike having an electronic speedometer.

Why use a SpeedoHealer?

Correct the Error of the Speedometer/Odometer

On a modern sportsbike, the margin of error inherent in the factory speedometer can be as much as 10%.
Changing the sprocket ratios and/or tyre sizes can further increase this error, rising as high as 30% with the corresponding increase in odometer total affecting the resale value of the bike.

A SpeedoHealer will calibrate your speedometer/odometer to compensate for these errors and show a true value for your speed and total mileage.

Remove a Speed Limitation

Some vehicles have a speed limiter, for example Can-Am ATVs, Honda CBR1000RR / VFR800X / VFR1200F, Kawasaki ZX-10R / ZX-12R / ZX-14 / ZZR140, Polaris ATVs, Yamaha FZ-09 / MT-09 / YZF-R1 / V-Max (and many others).

For race use, a SpeedoHealer can prevent the limiter from activating (by increasing the limit).
For example if the speed limiter activates at 180 km/h, by setting a correction factor of -8% the speedometer will show a false speed of 162 km/h when the real speed is 180 km/h: so the limit will not be activated. When the speedometer shows 180 km/h and the limit activates, the real speed will be 200 km/h, hence the limit has been "increased".

Although all SpeedoHealers have two memories, the SpeedoHealer V4-AB (manual switch) or the SH-TSD (automatic switch) are the most appropriate modules for this use.

Convert the speedometer display to show km/h or mph

No need to guess your speeds when you are travelling across different countries with different speed limit displays. A SpeedoHealer will convert from km/h at the press of a button (conversion from mph to km/h requires a conversion factor to be used +60.9%).

Calibrate a Replacement Speedometer

A replacement speedometer may not work correctly with the original/unmodified signal from the vehicles speed sensor. A SpeedoHealer can modify that signal to allow the speedometer to work correctly, or it can be used with an external speed sensor (SpeedoHealer cable SH-WSS).

Show off your Last Top Speed

An external Top Speed button is included with the SpeedoHealer V4-TS/V4-C. Pressing the button will cause the speedometer to show the last top speed recorded...no more arguments!

Bike-Specific Information

  • Honda X-ADV 2017 onwards
The speed restriction cannot be removed with a SpeedoHealer. The SpeedoHealer can only correct the speedometer error. It must be installed between the ECU and the dashboard. Installation details here.
  • Kawasaki Versys X300
If the pinion/chainwheel has been changed on this bike, the ECU gets confused about the automatic gear-change, so one SpeedoHealer is required to restore the speed signal to its original frequency.
Now the speedometer will have a significant error and so a second SpeedoHealer is required to correct the error for the speedometer. Installation details here (Spanish).
  • Yamaha MT-09 2017 onwards
A SpeedoHealer can be installed using the rear wheel speed signal between the ABS and principal ECU. However, due to the traction control being managed by the principal ECU, the Top Speed Button cannot be used on this bike.

SpeedoHealer Features

  • Programmable calibrator with Dual Memory function - Calibrate the speedometer or odometer for 100% accuracy. Two memories to store two different calibration settings.
  • Converter - Converts km/h to mph. Program the speedometer to read in accordance with the country of travel. (e.g. in the UK)
  • Top Speed Memory - SpeedoHealer versions TS/V4-C.
Allows the last maximum speed to be re-displayed on the speedometer at the push of a button
  • A/B Memory function - SpeedoHealer V4-AB and V4-TSD only.
Allows switching between correction factors for A: correction or B: removal of the speed limitation (race use only).
  • "Plug-n-Go" harnesses available for most bikes: here
  • Largest calibration range (from -99.9% to +9999.9%) together with the smallest increments (0.1%)
  • Greatest precision
  • Interactive test mode: check the installation before you leave the workshop
  • Easy setup thanks to the calculators:
    - Online in www.healtech-electronics.com
    - App for Apple

  • Wide range of operating parameters: from +3V to +19V and -40°C hasta +80°C (-40°F hasta +176°F).
  • 100% resistant to water.
  • Epoxy sealed for vibration resistance.
  • The lightest, smallest unit available.

Installation

Installation and Programming

The installation process is usually very easy, requiring only three steps.

1) Connect the SpeedoHealer Plug n' Go harness into the speed sensor cable

For most bikes a SpeedoHealer Plug n' Go harness is available. These have the same connectors as the bike in question and so can just be plugged into the cable from the bike's speed sensor, allowing the signal to pass through the SpeedoHealer for modification, without cutting or jointing any wires.

The main exceptions are some Yamaha models with ABS or bikes that use uncommon connectors. Always consult the Healtech Product Advisor prior to purchase to confirm the recommended cable for your vehicle. If you have a doubt, please contact us.

There are many installation guides available on the Healtech website (scroll down to see the guides titled "SH-...")

2) Connect the SpeedoHealer module and perform the setup checks

The SpeedHealer has a test mode to:

a) check the SpeedoHealer is receiving the speed signal and

b) check the SpeedoHealer is sending the modified signal to the speedometer.

3) Program a correction factor to correct the error

Every vehicle is different and so requires a different correction factor.

The best method to find out the current error is to do a short distance at a fixed speed and compare the speedometer value with a GPS value.

Alternatively you can calculate an estimated correction factor.
Healtech provides an online calculator and SpeedoHealer apps to make the calculation.

SpeedoHealer Cable Harness

A compatible SpeedoHealer harness is always required to allow the vehicle's speed signal to pass through the SpeedoHealer module for correction.

For most bikes a "Plug n' Go" harness is available which has the same original-style connectors as the vehicle and so a SpeedoHealer module can be connected to the speed sensor without any cutting or jointing of the original wiring or requiring additional power connections. In almost all cases, the SpeedoHealer module can use the power and ground connection supplied by the ECU.

However, this is not always possible if the vehicle has an uncommon style of connector or the cable carrying the speed signal is part of the main ECU wiring harness (as for bikes with ABS), and so the correct wire must be cut and a universal harness be used to bridge the signal through the SpeedoHealer module. High-quality 3M jointing connectors are provided with the universal harnesses.

SpeedoHealer Versions

There are three universal versions that offer different extra features, and three special versions for specific vehicles.

SpeedoHealer SH-V4 - universal module with a Top Speed button

This unit is the standard SpeedoHealer and includes an (optional) external button which, when pressed, displays the last top speed on the speedometer.

SpeedoHealer V4-AB - universal module with an external A/B memory switch

This unit includes an external switch which allows the rider to change between memory A and B with different calibration factors.

A typical use for this option would be to use
- memory A for normal use/to correct the speedometer display, and
- memory B to bypass a speed limiter. This is achieved by programming a large, negative correction factor such as -30% to deceive the ECU that the vehicle is moving far slower than the real speed, thereby preventing the limiter from operating.

SpeedoHealer V4-TSD - universal module with automatic A/B memory switching

This unit can make the A→B memory change automatically at a specific, programmable speed.
