Do fuses keep blowing randomly?

This Short Circuit Detector allows you to safely test for intermittent short circuits, where a fuse is blowing for an unknown reason (due to circuit overload or a damaged harness/short circuit).

The SCD replaces the fuse while you are testing and provides an audio signal to indicate normal circuit operation and over-current incidents while you are physically checking the circuit/wiring harness.

This product is compatible with fuses/circuits rated from 5A-30A and includes adapters for the following fuse formats:

How to use the Short Circuit Detector

  1. Locate and remove the damaged fuse.
  2. Using the correct adapter, connect the SCD in place of the fuse.
  3. Apply power to the circuit and if necessary, start the engine.
  4. Manipulate the wiring harness while the buzzer is sounding to locate the short circuit.
  5. The SCD indicates a normal current with the low (20dB) sound.
A short circuit (current overload) is indicated by the high (30dB) sound.

If while testing, the sound stops/there is no sound at all, possibly the SCD is in thermal protection and should be allowed to cool down.
